A really good place to base ourselves in Maritzburg.
We were visiting family friends in Maritzburg and they suggested we base ourselves at Thorn Tree. Situated in a quiet area and yet close to the main roads and services we needed it was ideal. Our rooms were spacious and comfortable, our welcome genuine and helpful and breakfast very good. We would happily stay there again.

Central Base in Pietermaritzburg
We stayed at the lodge for one night over the weekend. We called a few hours ahead of time and booked. The booking was painless and accommodating as we wanted to drop our stuff off before check-in and continue our shopping.

Our room was spacious and clean and overlooked the golf course, with secure and safe parking. We were told there was a night porter which was super so there was no problem in coming home late at night.

The next morning we had a lovely breakfast which was a combination of a continental and English breakfast. The staff are friendly and very accommodating.

The Lodge is based very conveniently in Hayfields, you are close to Liberty Mall and all attractions in town but have the feel of the country.

A Wonderful find in Pietermaritzburg
The guesthouse is located in the suburbs but close enough to the CBD and to the main roads. We were a group of 20 cyclists that stayed here for 1 night. From the start of the booking process was super efficient and seamless. We were all impressed with the place. It is spacious, clean and has a beautiful deck area.

Pleasant.
It was a business trip. Thorn Tree's people were very friendly and willing to help us where they could. The manager lent us crockery for the period of our stay with them - they themselves washed the crockery for us and took it back to our room every day (even though it is a self-catering unit).
